A short video outtake of some humpback whales we filmed in Monterey Bay, California.

Well, my best-laid plans of keeping up with the film's blog were thwarted by a burst of filming and travel.
So, from here on out, I make no promises about updating the blog, but will try my best to get something up here more frequently. Our trips included a five-day road trip to Monterey, California. There, we were able to get out on the water with Blue Ocean Whale Watch, out of Moss Landing. What an amazing trip! We saw more than 13 humpbacks and even a small group of blue whales. Of course, there were also scores of sea otters and hundreds of sea lions, too. The highlight for us was getting the chance to talk whales with a few folks who live at the southernmost range of the Southern Resident orcas. Among our interviewees was Dr. Wallace J. Nichols, marine biologist and author of "Blue Mind." It was a great trip - but filled to the gills with filming. We came back with new interviews and more than five hours of raw footage! No promises, but I hope to post a clip from the trip soon! ;) Cheers, - Rick |
